Testing the rooftop unit from call to performance

PVAC confirms the thermostat or control call and checks whether the rooftop unit receives and follows that command. The operating sequence is observed through safeties, stages, fan operation, compressor or heating operation, and the controls responsible for enabling each step.

Electrical condition, contactors, relays, motors, belts, filters, coils, drains, sensors, and visible cabinet conditions are reviewed as they relate to the complaint. Temperature, airflow indications, refrigerant-circuit behavior, and heating performance are tested under the operating mode available during the visit.

When a unit has multiple stages, each available stage is evaluated rather than assuming the first stage represents total capacity. When an economizer or outdoor-air assembly is present, its position, control input, and effect on mixed or supply-air conditions may be reviewed if relevant.

After approved work, PVAC restarts the unit and verifies the sequence, controls, fan operation, temperature response, drainage, and other applicable performance indicators. Findings are communicated in terms the responsible customer can use.
